Important to Know
- Students do NOT register directly with MAA – You register through the test center
- Each test center sets their own registration deadline (usually 1-2 weeks before the exam)
- Registration fees vary by location ($25-75 typically)
- Some centers fill up quickly, so register early!
Registration Deadlines
Test centers have different internal deadlines from MAA’s organizational deadlines. While MAA’s regular deadline is January 5, 2026, many test centers close registration 1-2 weeks before the testing window to allow time for preparation. Contact your chosen test center early to confirm their specific deadline.
Eligibility Requirements
Make sure your child meets these criteria:
- Currently in grade 8 or below
- Under 14.5 years old on the day of the competition
- Full-time student in the USA or Canada (for US/Canada test centers)
- Can only take the AMC 8 once per year
